Recap of the First Service of Living Water Bible Church (LWBC)

Today (Dec 1, 2024) marked the inaugural meeting of Living Water Bible Church, and what an incredible day it was!

The past seven days feel like a whirlwind. After leaving Stillwater Bible Church (SBC), we were so inspired to follow God’s leading and start our own church—and by His grace, we did just that!

In just one week, God has enabled us to:

  • Decide on a name: Living Water Bible Church (John 4:14).
  • Create a 90-day task checklist to guide our next steps.
  • Purchase a website domain: livingwaterbible.org.
  • Hold our very first service at the Cortinas’ home.
  • Begin scouting venues, including the Portland Country Club and Tiger Rock Martial Arts.
  • Purchase a TV and stand for future services.
  • Share the gospel with 10 people and pray for 7 others (Matthew 28:19-20).
  • Raise pledges of over $10,000 in one-time gifts and $20,000 in annual revenue through recurring offerings (2 Corinthians 9:7-8).

It all feels like it’s happening so fast, but we know that God is at work.

Today’s service introduced the book of John, highlighting its purpose to lead readers to believe in Jesus as the Christ and Son of God, bringing eternal life through faith (John 20:30-31). As we continue through John, may we proclaim the Gospel, deepen our faith, and share the hope of eternal life with others. Next week, we’ll begin with the first section—invite your families and join us in studying God’s Word.

What are we doing this week to progress the church plant?

  • We are also seeking clarity on a venue for next week’s service, so stay tuned for updates!
  • Plan children’s services
  • Incorporation of the church
  • Women’s and Men’s Small Groups
  • Evangelizing

Please continue to pray for God’s favor and provision as we take these next steps. Invite your families, share the vision with others, and let’s trust God to grow this church for His glory. As Scripture reminds us:

 

“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it” (Psalm 127:1).

 

This is just the beginning. God is good, and we are so excited to see how He will use Living Water Bible Church to transform lives in the Coastal Bend area.
